The riverfront image in the background of our website banner is a composite from Plates 2, 3, and 4 of Cincinnati Panorama of 1848 and is used with permission from the Collection of The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County (PLCH). Cincinnati Panorama of 1848 is a set of eight daguerreotype photographs forming a panorama taken by Charles Fontayne and William Porter. Deemed a “national treasure,” the panorama is owned by PLCH where it is on public display. High resolution scanned images are available for viewing on the Library’s website.
